Presenting a diverse spectrum of compositions by the doyen of Kasur Patiala Gharana, Late Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.
Aptly connected with His pen-name Sabarang, the concert portrays glimpses of all (lit. saba) colors (lit. rang) and
moods of the Hindustani khayal music repertoire, through the canvas of late night melodies!
The concert presents some of the evergreen compositions of Sabarang: Late Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.
These not only capture different facets of his poetic virtuosity but also a palette of moods such as shringar, viraha, bhakti, and samarpan.
Though the artiste hails from the Kasoor Patiala Gharana in the lineage of Sabarang,
the performance blends diverse imaginative thoughts from maestros across Gharanas.
Especially, the main raga performance is dedicated to Late Pt. Rajan Mishra as this has been one of His legendary performances.
It is the teamwork of three great musician friends whose thought processes are in sync.
The accompanying artistes play as much the role of the main vocalist to drive the progression of the performance.
This is the chemistry attained by long association of artistic exchange.
The artiste presents a garland of elements in the performance, thoughtfully blended adhering to the shashtra, sanskar, and talim.
You can expect to find the aspect that excites you, may it be the peace (chain), sur (melody), layakari (rhythm), sahitya (poetry), ragang (dexterity), bhaav (emotion), or samarpan (surrender).
Concert will start off with a 70 minute webcast featuring Sabarang bandishes followed by an interactive session, to honor any farmaish from the attendees.
